Birds in the park

This page will record anything with regards to the birds in the park – don’t forget to let us know if you see anything unusual!

I was in the park on Saturday supervising the bulb planting event when a lovely man came into the building to tell us that he had heard an owl screeching in the park last Thursday evening [16/9/10]. I asked him if he knew what kind of owl and he said he didn’t. I thanked him for the info and he left. After half an hour or so he returned to proudly tell us it was a Barn Owl. He had been home and looked up the call on the internet. The Friends of Victoria Park want to say a big thank you to the man in question for his diligence and ask you all to keep your ears out for unusual birds and let us know. Regards, Shelly

29/12/14. At the entrance to wintervill in Victoria park there was a great spotted woodpecker.
Later we found 6 field fares feeding on the grassed areas.
