Friends of Victoria Park Stretford

Animal Hunt

A brilliantly sunny day with temperatures reaching 26 degrees met us for this event. We moved the event from the under 5’s play area up to the community building so thatwe did not have to carry everything across the park in the heat.

About 30 children took part in the hunt for Friends Group Committee members wearing animal face masks to stamp their entrance cards in order to win their worm prize. This event was worth it even if no children came as to see the Friends wearing these masks and monkeying about was priceless! This event was put on to mark the International Day of Biodiversity and the cheeky plastic worm prizes were to remind children that each creature has it’s own importance and interdependancy and should be treated with respect.

The Friends group sold teas / coffees and ice lollies out of the building and also ran a second hand bookstall.

In the community building there was a display of all the photograph competition winners and highly commended entries. These showed the extremely high quality of the entrants. Have a look at the photo competition page to see the winners.
