Clare Booth – Cafe Manager
I have worked in the Hospitality and Leisure industry for 30 years in various guises catering for private and corporate events, working in contract catering, in higher education and most recently at Chester Zoo as Food and Beverage Operations Manager. I love getting to know my guests and going above and beyond to exceed their expectations and helping to create amazing memories. I am an avid reader in my spare time, enjoy baking and trying out new recipes for my daughter who is vegan and my husband who is vegetarian. I also volunteer and help out various sled dog rescues by carrying out dog assessments, home checks and supporting fund raising events. I have two amazing rescue pups – Magic who is a Siberian Husky and a real mummy’s boy and Mischief, an Alaskan Malamute. I also enjoy horse riding, having ridden since I was 8 years old and have recently had to say my sad goodbyes to my Princess Pony Frejya. Family is very important to me, I love spending time with my niece who will be 3 in October (I’m the favourite auntie of course) and it’s amazing having my daughter at home after her being away at University for the last three years. I am very much looking forward to joining the Friends of Victoria Park Stretford family for the next chapter in my life.
Sarah Gregory – Operations Manager
I moved to Manchester in 2011 and the community events we saw running in the park were a big part of the decision to choose Stretford as our new home. I started volunteering in the cafe and at events before using my love of horticulture and wildlife to run gardening groups and Nature Explorer sessions. I’ve always enjoyed the outdoors, my first career was as a field archaeologist working in some of the wettest and muddiest locations across the UK. This was followed by 10 years working at the National Foundation for Educational Research. I’m currently a part time Information Consultant for a children’s librarians’ organisation (ASCEL) and also volunteer at a local school library. I’m looking forward to being a part of the next phase of FOVPS, and helping to make Victoria Park the very best it can be. I’ll primarily be involved with the outdoor activities, but also with website and social media updates.
Jane Killworth – Operations Manager
I have been a local resident of Victoria Park since 2002 and I have been an active member of Victoria Park School Community. I have been able to stay at home whilst my children were young and have used my time to volunteer for a local grassroots football club as the Chairman. I have also been a Guide leader in Sale for 25 years. I feel excited to be working for Friends of Victoria Park, in this exciting new phase and am looking forward to getting involved with the community groups returning and starting up within our new building. You’ll find me with a cup of tea in my hand and a cheery smile ready to welcome you and offer a listening ear.
Nancy Lloyd – Operations Manager
I am a qualified Occupational Therapist and more recently, an RHS trained gardener. I spent many years managing and developing a community park. Previous to that I’ve had a varied work history, working in Mental Health, with Offenders and even a stint in academia as a research assistant. I’ve also recently done lots of voluntary work developing a local pocket park and running a school gardening club which I’ve absolutely loved, I highly recommend volunteering it’s so rewarding and you meet such great people!
Helen Ardley – Operations Manager
Megan Spurrett – Assistant Cafe Manager
I’ve worked in the catering industry for over ten years; working my way from kitchen preparation to coffee and eventually to events and cafe management. I have specific, extensive experience in speciality coffee and have also been employed as a catering events manager and organiser for the Whitworth Art Gallery. In my spare time I try to see as much of the world as possible and have been lucky enough to travel to most of Europe and most recently have returned from a trip to Australia. I’m really looking forward to sticking around this time though and getting our new cafe up and running!
