FOVPS were awarded £10,000 by the #NationalLottery Community Fund to run this project during 2022 to support our community to take action on climate change.
Building on interest and excitement of COP26, we planned a series of projects to nurture and develop local ideas to support a legacy of ongoing climate action projects.
Community Kitchen Garden
We built and installed raised beds where we came together and learnt about growing our own vegetables and fruit, including installing a series of composting initiatives to make sure everything we don’t eat can be returned back to the soil.
Sessions ran every Saturday afternoon, facilitated by staff and volunteers, including students working for their Duke of Edinburgh Award. We also had a separate grant to install a polytunnel in our working compound, so we can now start off more seeds and plants to fill up our vegetable beds.
Read more about the kitchen garden and how to get involved.
Weekly storytelling
Every Saturday morning our story-tellers came and shared a children’s story with an eco, nature or food theme and an associated craft activity, which was very popular and we hope to continue in future
