2022 Roundup

2022 marks our first full year in our new Community Building and we’ve made the most of it! It really is a team effort, and we’re only just getting started, there are lots more plans for 2023, why not join us and help make next year the best one yet.

Can you run a craft activity for adults or kids; teach a cookery class; run an exercise class; help and plan our events; become a trustee; do a bit of gardening?

Come and show your support by buying a cup of tea, a sandwich and cake; book our room for your party or event, and tell all your friends, we can’t do this without you!

Community Room

Our Community Room has been well used this year with regular bookings from various local groups to run events, classes and meetings alongside the private parties, including:

  • Collaborative Women
  • Serious Laughter
  • Baby Massage, Amaras Space
  • Little Signers
  • Christmas Crafters
  • Stretford & Urmston MP

The Trafford Health Bus and our Local PCSOS visit the park regularly.  The MileShy running and walking groups meet outside weekly.  We’ve worked with Stretford In Bloom, Trafford Conservation Volunteers and we meet with One Trafford and Amey officers to discuss future plans and issues in the park.

Over 80 families have celebrated with parties at the weekend and there have been more than 20 after school birthday parties. We’ve had such positive feedback, parents have loved that children can also run around the park during the party and that they can book catering; that it is such good value; for providing a first class venue and that our staff are so welcoming.

  • 3 Duke of Edinburgh students completed their Volunteering with us, helping at the Kitchen Garden, litter picking and sorting out the recycling bins.
  • We have help in updating our notice boards, keeping the book exchange shelf tidy and organising our store room.
  • Our Trustees are always working away in the background, but several have taken on extra tasks, such as office admin, gardening, collecting The Tea Room orders, running the large scale events and working with the Youth Council.

Awards

  • We retained the Green Flag awarded to parks that are vibrant and well looked after.
  • We gained our 4th consecutive Outstanding at the RHS It’s Your Neighbourhood ceremony in Bolton.
  • Thanks to all your nominations, we were voted one of the best Local Parks by Fields In Trust

Terracyle Recycling Bins

We’re now signed up for 10 schemes, and can recycle many plastic packaging and products that can’t be dealt with elsewhere, we even get donations for every parcel we send away. This year we have collected 78kg of plastics and received over £60! Keep bringing your plastic to us, especially Christmas chocolate wrappers, Ferrer Rocher packaging and Pringles tubes.

We also introduced a 20p charge per takeaway cup to reduce our waste even further, so remember to bring your own mug if you want a hot drink on your walks.

The Tea Room

Our staff have worked incredibly hard this year, serving all our customers, making delicious cakes and extra special treats for all the celebrations throughout the year. They’ve provided large scale catering services for external clients and food for our party and room bookings.  Alongside this, they’ve cooked the soup for the Winter Warmers, fed all the children on the Holiday Clubs, and made all the breakfasts for our meet Santa sessions.

This year we have made over 28 thousand drinks!

17, 288 Coffees

6521 Cups of Tea

3955 Hot Chocolates

423 Iced Coffees

So come on tea drinkers of Stretford, unite and catch up with the coffee lovers this year, let’s beat the totals.

Did you know that every time you make a purchase in The Tea Room, you are helping to fund our activities?

Each tea, coffee, sandwich or buffet means we can run more support services and fun activities for our community, If you’ve not been before, let’s turn our Facebook likes into visits!!

THANK YOU from all of us here at FOVPS
