Victoria Park offers more than just an amazing place for walking and running. There are tennis courts, basketball & hockey courts, a football field, climbing wall, scooter track, Trim Trail, Rebo ball practice wall and two play parks for children.
We also have a series of graded and themed walks around the park. For those not used to walking, with health issues or recovering from illness there is a gentle 200m walk. Book online for Wednesday Wander, FreshAir Friday, or pick up a leaflet from the Community Room to join in.
We welcome well-behaved dogs in the park. If you have forgotten any dog-bags, you can find dispensers located at each entrance. These are filled regularly by our volunteers, and paid for out of park funds. Please only use in emergencies. There are bins located regularly throughout the park so please dispose of rubbish responsibly and help keep our park clean and tidy.
Trafford Council’s Dog Fouling regulations.
Play Parks
There are 2 playparks, one for the under 5s and another for under 14 year olds.
Please help keep the playgrounds safe and clean by using the bins provided and not allowing dogs inside the fences.
Equipment is checked regularly, if you have any concerns, report to Trafford Council
Petanque
With the support of The Friends of Victoria Park, Trafford Pétanque has been able to thrive as a club representing its region, both nationally and Internationally.
About the game
Although Pétanque has origins in France the sport is now played all around the world. It is a game that you can play on a dusty path with friends or in a purpose-built stadium, surrounded by TV crews and under the gaze of onlookers in the stands. Either way, pétanque is unique in its offering of being a very inclusive activity and one where it is easy to get started. From the outside pétanque looks simple to master, but then so does kicking a football. On the inside, for many, the game is addictive and inevitably becomes a lifelong obsession in a personal quest to get better.
The location
Trafford Pétanque’s home turf, or should we say gravel, is within the bowling green complex at Victoria Park. In a small corner of this large, quiet & still open space you will find a hive of activity from a group enjoying a sport which continues to attract people from the local area and afar. For those passing by one can expect to hear the sound of laughter, the clashing of steel, and witness the disappointment of a missed shot.
For more information about your local club, you can visit our website or facebook page: www.traffordpetanque.co.uk www.facebook.com/traffordpetanque as well as information on the game at www.thisispetanque.com
Pokemon Go!
Victoria park has a thriving community of Pokemom Go players and is one of the top 5 most popular parks with 5 Pokemon gyms (where players battle and defend) and 14 Pokestops (where players can spin disks to reveal new items)
There are regular events to join in with including:
- Monthly Community Day where players have 3 hours to catch newly spawned Pokemon
- Spotlight Hour on Tuesdays at 5pm where you have a Pokemon spawn with a bonus for catching.
- Thursday is Raid Hour from 6pm, when players battle raid bosses on Pokemon gyms. This is very popular due to the high number of gyms in Victoria Park.
Regular players have supported the Friends Of Victoria Park with fundraising and volunteering activities and help make the park a vibrant and busy location.
